چکیده
The impact of exchange-rate fluctuations on resource reallocation is particular interest to researchers and policymakers with China’s further opening the international market transformation economic growth. With high-speed growth, pollution issues have become an concern. This paper examines how RMB movements affect allocation efficiency within industries at different levels, based data Chinese industrial enterprises during 1998–2007. Unlike previous studies, we analyze within-industry productivity dispersion reacts appreciation from perspective heterogeneity across firms in their exposure foreign competition each industry. Our findings suggest that causes increase dispersion, which implies a decrease efficiency. increased higher levels more diminutive than lower levels. intended shrink for high-polluting due real appreciation. Appreciation plays positive role pollution-intensive industries.

Ownership and Industrial Pollution Control: Evidence from China
This study explores the differences in pollution control performances of industrial enterprises with various ownerships in China – State owned (SOE), collectively or community owned (COE), privately owned (POE), foreign directly invested (FDI) companies as well as joint ventures. A survey was conducted of approximately 1000 industrial firms in three provinces in China, which collects the detail...

High levels of pharmaceuticals, including fluoroquinolones (FQs), have been detected in the effluent from an Indian waste water treatment plant serving bulk drug production intended for the global market. Responses from short-term effluent exposure were studied in fish and rats through explorative analyses of hepatic mRNA abundance, enzyme activities and blood chemistry parameters. Exposure of ...
متن کاملIndustrial Ownership and Environmental Performance: Evidence from China
This study explores the differences in pollution control performance of industries with different types of ownership – State owned (SOE), collectively or community owned (COE), and privately owned (POE). A theoretic analysis is conducted and followed by an empirical assessment with Chinese data. The empirical results show that the COEs in China have better environmental performances in water po...
